What’s it really like to be a digital recruiter in Sydney? Gillian Kane – MD of Digital Gurus APAC – runs us through a typical day.
Wake up to glorious sunshine peaking through my window.
Into the garden for a delicious cup of organic chai tea & a 15 minute meditation.
Start stroll into work, through the funky streets of Surrey Hills, breathing in that warm sun. Such a perfect way to start the day.
Get into the city and grab a poached egg on quinoa toast and a skinny latte from my favourite coffee place at the bottom of our office (p.s. Australia has some the best coffee in the world).
Begin work. My mornings are usually spent checking emails, following up on interviews, getting feedback, catching up with clients and organising calls with new candidates.
Head to a great rooftop bar, overlooking the harbour bridge for a lunch meeting with a new client (minus the cocktails…).
Just secured a big project with my new client – time to work it for them. Begin with a headhunt search and market map exercise.
Start strategically spec-ing top candidates and developing new business. There are some great new companies launching here in Australia right now.
Respond to more candidates that come through during the day and organise consultations with them.
Do a consultation with a new candidate who enjoys a nice cup of our DG coffee straight from our George Clooney endorsed coffee machine.
Finish up work. The sun is still shining so off I go to meet some friends in Newtown where we bask outside in the beer garden of my fave hidden Mexican bar munching on some soft shell tacos and an ice cold drink. Perfect.
